My Story

Portrait of Lisa Harrington

Hi, I’m Lisa..

When I was 16 years old I volunteered in a mental health facility where I witnessed extraordinary breakthroughs that inspired me. This started my lifelong passion for helping people.

At 18, I worked in a neurosurgical hospital as a nursing assistant. I saw miracles and I saw great loss. Providing support and comfort to people and families who have been affected by devastating injuries and trauma was a great honour. It has had a profound influence on my life.

Counselling has always been my dream, and after twenty years working in the corporate sector, I decided to pursue my true calling, earning a Bachelor of Social Science (Counselling) from the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP).

As a student I trained with Petria King's Quest for Life Foundation, Mission Australia with the homeless, and Wayback, a drug rehabilitation program. I was immersed in the transformative power of therapy, and how it changed lives.

Originally from the USA, I have lived in three countries. I moved to Australia in 1986, where I raised my two beautiful children, and am now proud to call Launceston my home.

I have lived a full life, and I can’t wait to help you make the best of yours.
